Reut Regev is an Israeli-born trombonist and composer who has been an active force on the New York music scene for over two decades. Known for her fearless versatility and boundary-pushing creativity, Reut has collaborated with some of the most influential voices in experimental and genre-defying music. Her playing draws from a rich palette of styles—including free improvisation, contemporary classical, jazz, klezmer, blues, Latin, and more—reflecting her passion for blending traditions and cultures.
She has recorded and toured internationally with pioneering artists such as Anthony Braxton, Butch Morris, Elliott Sharp, Burton Greene, Hazmat Modine, Metropolitan Klezmer, Joe Bataan, and many others.
Since 2009, Reut’s primary focus as a bandleader has been R*time, a dynamic ensemble she co-leads with drummer Igal Foni. Featuring original compositions and spontaneous group explorations, Rtime includes iconic free-funk guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly and bassist Mark Peterson, along with rotating collaborators like tubist Jon Sass and bassists Robert Jukic and Andrea Castelli. The band has toured extensively across Europe and released several acclaimed albums: This is Rtime (2009, Ropeadope), exploRing the vibe (2012, Enja), Keep Winning (2019, Enja), and It’s Now (2024, ESP), the latter featuring the music of Doug Hammond.
Currently, Reut is at work on her debut solo album, showcasing new compositions and improvisations that further explore her unique voice as a trombonist and composer.
In addition to her performance career, Reut is a dedicated educator and mentor. Through her company, Notes and Beyond, she offers private lessons and workshops in jazz and creative music, serving students locally in New Jersey and worldwide.
